The resort has a stunning castle-like appearance and large, comfortable family rooms. The skiing experience is fantastic with great powder, and the onsen is a highlight. However, the dining options are uninspiring and transportation to nearby attractions could be improved. Overall, it offers good value for those looking for family skiing, but food and transport need attention.

Rooms
9.0
We had a huge family room with two queen beds, and the beds were unbelievably comfortable.
Service
6.0
The service was decent, but the bus schedule to town was infrequent.
Location
5.0
The resort is quite remote, making it hard to access other attractions without a car.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were limited and became repetitive, though the Japanese restaurant offered good food.
Facilities
8.0
The onsen and additional activities like the climbing wall and swimming pool were great, but some facilities had extra charges.

5.2/10

My stay at the resort was quite mixed. The skiing experience was fantastic, especially after fresh snowfall, and the facilities are modern and enjoyable. However, the service was lacking, and the overall dining options left much to be desired. Overall, while there are excellent amenities, the resort could improve its food quality and service experience significantly.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were decent but somewhat dated, lacked USB plugs, and bore the weight of high pricing without providing commensurate luxury.
Service
5.0
The service was quite disappointing, with staff showing minimal initiative to assist during check-in, and a general lack of attentiveness throughout my stay.
Location
5.0
Located on the edge of suburbia, the resort's location is convenient for skiing but lacks nearby dining options, making it difficult without transportation.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were quite limited, and the quality was subpar, especially given the overall high prices charged for meals.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities are otherwise well-maintained, with great Wi-Fi and modern amenities, although the charges for certain activities within a resort setting seem excessive.

7.0/10

Overall, my experience at Lotte Arai was a bit of a mixed bag. The skiing is fantastic for experts, especially in tree runs, but the limited terrain and early lift closures were disappointing. The resort itself is luxurious, with spacious and clean rooms, and the onsen facilities were a perfect way to unwind after skiing. However, it's quite remote, lacking the authentic Japanese cultural experiences found in other regions. I'd consider returning, but my wife, a beginner, would not share the same enthusiasm.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean with comfortable beds. However, I did find the ski locker area to be a bit chaotic.
Service
7.0
Service was prompt and helpful; staff seemed eager to assist, but it felt a bit stiff at times.
Location
5.0
The location is quite remote, which makes it hard to genuinely experience the local culture and food.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were pricey given the limited competition, and while the Korean restaurant was a good find, most other options felt expensive for what they offered.
Facilities
9.0
The onsen facilities are a highlight and a fantastic way to relax after a day on the slopes.

Staying at Lotte Arai Resort was an unforgettable experience for our family. The hotel itself is stunning, with spacious and comfortable rooms. However, the dining options left something to be desired, with a limited menu at the restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool and the fantastic onsen facilities. Overall, it’s a great place for families, but I wish there were more frequent shuttles to the nearby village for dining out.

Rooms
9.0
Our adjoining rooms were spacious and very comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable.
Service
7.0
We appreciated the free shuttle service to the local village, although it could be more frequent.
Location
9.0
The resort is conveniently located, with a beautiful view of the slopes and easy access to skiing.
Dining
6.0
The dining choices were a bit limited and could use some improvement for variety.
Facilities
10.0
We loved the onsen and swimming pool; the facilities were well-maintained and added to our enjoyment.

We had an amazing time skiing for the first time, with gorgeous accommodations and scenic walking trails nearby. While the food was a bit pricey, we enjoyed the indoor activities available for the kids. However, there were some frustrating experiences with long wait times for the gondola and mediocre food quality. Overall, it was a memorable family trip, and we can't wait to return!

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were quite basic but clean, though we occasionally smelled cigarette smoke. They lacked some comfort elements, making it a little difficult to adjust the temperature.
Service
9.0
The service provided was really commendable, especially given the circumstances. Though there were a few hiccups, the staff was attentive and made us feel welcome.
Location
8.0
The resort is conveniently located near ski lifts and some beautiful walking trails. However, it does feel a bit isolated, which could be a downside for some.
Dining
5.0
Dining options weren't impressive; many dishes tasted cheap and the variety was limited. Pricing felt excessive for the quality.
Facilities
7.0
We loved the indoor rock climbing and trampoline, which kept the kids busy. The overall resort facilities were decent but could use some upgrades.
